My walking shoes are the best. I spent so much time walking in the wrong shoes I almost quit walking. Keep searching and try several different brands. They don’t have to cost the most to be the best for you..so I found out.
I found the best shoes for walking are shoes that tie. I tried walking in my favorite everyday shoes, which are really comfortable clogs with no heel] but they only worked for a short distance and then everything started to hurt. My back, my legs, my knees, my arches, everything hurt. I couldn’t believe it. The next time I took a walk I used my athletic shoes, chosen for just that sort of event]and I had a much more enjoyable walking experience.
Although I found out the hard way you don’t want your walking shoes to be short or even close to short[I recommend at least 1/4" between the end of your toes and the end of the shoe]you also don’t want them to be too long because then they rub up and down causing blisters on your heels and they also cause leg cramps because you are squeezing your toes the whole time in an effort to keep them from falling off.
I went climbing up to some falls in the state of Washington with my son and daughter-in-law. We were visiting there from California and I had not packed any kind of hiking footwear so I borrowed a pair of my sons hiking boots thinking we wore a similar size, Not! The boots were too big and spent the entire hike clinging with my toes. I had blisters on my toes, on my heels on the top of my feet and on the balls of my feet. I knew too short would be awful, but it hadn’t occured to me that too big would be just as awful. Beautiful falls though.
